portlandia renewed season 4 5 dancing robot ifc IFC renews 'Portlandia' for two more seasons

Television’s love affair with the bizarre, hipster world of Portland is not over yet. IFC has renewed “Portlandia” for two more seasons, the network announced Wednesday (June 12). Season 4 is scheduled to premiere early in 2014, with Season 5 following in 2015. Each season will be made up of 10 half-hour episodes.

The odd comedy series stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein as a wide array of quirky, Portland-based characters. Along with the stars, “Portlandia” is produced by Jonathan Krisel (also the show’s director). Lorne Michaels of “Saturday Night Live” fame executive produces the program, which has been nominated for an Emmy and has won Peabody and WGA awards.

“Portlandia has celebrated sustainable local agriculture, underemployment, avian crafting, gender politics, intense bicycle messengers and so much more,” said IFC president and general manager Jennifer Caserta. “We can now celebrate two more seasons.”

Although no guest stars have been announced for the upcoming seasons, there are likely to be many from all parts of the television and film world. Season 3 saw guests such as Kyle MacLachlan (recurring in the role of Portland’s mayor), Chloe Sevigny, Roseanne Barr, Jeff Goldblum, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt and more.

It can only get weirder from here.
