He was hospitalized starting in May for pneumonia and kidney problems. He was 83 years old. The nurses reportedly played classical music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Kevorkian’s favorite composer, as he passed.

Kevorkian is most famous for his role as an advocate of assisted suicide for terminally ill people. He was released from prison in 2007 after serving an eight-year sentence for second-degree murder.
