Jacob Lusk turned in an emotional performance for 21st Century Songs week on “American Idol” when he chose “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross. Not only did Jacob’s father pass away when Jacob was only 12 years old, but Wednesday, April 20 would’ve been Luther Vandross’ 60th birthday.

We thought the vocal was lovely. There were moments that weren’t spot-on, but overall it packed a punch because of the emotion behind it. That’s what music is all about.

The judges liked it, citing how beautiful it was emotionally. Tyler calls Jacob “Luther Lusk,” while Randy says it was good, but not great. What did you think? Did Jacob bring it home on “Idol” this week?
