Folk singer James Taylor, a Boston native, was asked to sing The Star-Spangled Banner for the second World Series game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. And while he pretty much did a beautiful job, he got sliiiiightly confused right at the start.

“Oh beautiful …. o say can you see,” starts Taylor. Oops.

He’s in good company, though. Many a National Anthem singer has screwed up the words, some of the most famous of which are below — Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl, Carl Lewis and then Cuba Gooding Sr. at NBA games, and Michael Bolton at an MLB game.

Though to be fair, Carl Lewis seemed to know the words. It was just so, so bad.
