James Van Der Beek wrapped production on the first season of ABC’s “The B—- in Apartment 23” months ago and took a little time off to be with his family — particularly newborn son Joshua.
(We like to think he named him after Joshua Jackson, but we also like to believe that Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes will end up growing old together, so we’re not the best authority on the matter.)
Looks like Van Der Beek is ready to get back to work! “Apartment 23” premieres this Wednesday, April 11, so not only is the Beek working the press circuit, but he’s also just booked a fun one-off gig on NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
TV Guide reports that Van Der Beek will appear in the May 9 episode, titled “Father Dearest.” He plays a man whose ex-friend — a doctor — is trying to sabotage him. Van Der Beek starred on an episode of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” last year, so he’s no stranger to the gritty stare of Dick Wolf’s NYPD.
