jane lynch may 2011 gi Jane Lynch officially named host of the Emmys“Glee” star Jane Lynch will be your host for the 63rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

FOX, which is airing the awards this year, had been pushing to have Lynch as host, and the official word arrived Thursday (June 2). She follows fellow comedy stars Neil Patrick Harris and Jimmy Fallon, who have hosted the past two years and earned strong reviews for their performances.

“We’re delighted to have Jane Lynch host the Primetime Emmys this year,” says John Shaffner, chairman and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “When our host has comedic, dramatic and musical talents — as Jane proved in last year’s opening number — we know it’s going to be fun for us and for the audience at home.”

Lynch says she’s “tickled pink” to be this year’s host. “I’m looking forward to singing, dancing and sporting my finest tracksuit,” she adds.

Lynch won her first Emmy last year for playing the tracksuited scourge of “Glee,” Sue Sylvester, and is a likely nominee again this year. Nominations will be announced July 14, and the awards will air Sept. 18 on FOX.
