Jenni Rivera: Remains recovered at plane crash site

After being confirmed dead by both her family and the National Transportation Safety Board, the remains of Jenni Rivera are going to be returning home. The Mexican American singer and television personality died during a plane crash in Northern Mexico on Dec. 9. She was 43.

Authorities reveal that Rivera’s remains were recovered overnight and were taken to a Mexican forensics facility. Among the crash debris was her California driver’s license. Rivera’s brother, Lupillo, is planning to travel to Mexico to bring his sister’s body back to the United States where she’ll be buried in Southern California.

“Ama..voy a llevarle a su hija a casa, Le llevare su mama a mis sobrinos A nuestra hermana. fans a una gran senora!!!!!!!!!!” he tweeted. A rough translation of that is, “Ama .. I will take her daughter home, I’ll take your mom to my nephews for our sister. fans to a great lady!!!!!!!!!!”

Rivera had performed a concert in Monterrey, Mexico before boarding the Learjet25 that later crashed. It has been reported that the plane went down near Iturbide, Nuevo Leon. It was later revealed by Univision that the pilot had been working too long a shift and that the plane had already crashed once in 2005.

Among those who died in the crash were Rivera, her publicist, makeup artist and attorney and the plane’s two pilots. The last photo posted of Rivera was taken by her makeup artist after the group boarded the plane.
