jenni rivera memorial Jenni Rivera remembered at Los Angeles memorial service as album sales rise

Fans, friends and family members are gathering at a memorial service being held for late Mexican American singer and TV personality Jenni Rivera. She died along with six others in a plane crash on Dec. 9, and now her family is giving those who loved Rivera a chance to mourn.

Tickets to the event cost $1 and sold out in less than an hour after they went on sale. The event is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, and leading the service will be Rivera’s pastor brother Pedro Jr.

“We will celebrate the graduation into heaven, with honors, of our beloved mother, daughter and sister,” the Rivera family says in a statement.

Since her death, Rivera’s album sales have gained 1014 percent and are now at the top three spots on the Latin music chart, Billboard reports. Her new hits compilation, “La Misma Gran Senora,” is currently at number one. Rivera’s entire catalogue of albums sold 64,000 copies last week, up from 6,000 the week before.
