MTV has set a premiere date for Season 4 of “Jersey Shore” — and is already gearing up for Season 5.
The show’s fourth season is filming in Italy for a couple more weeks, and it will have a pretty quick turnaround to make it on the air: MTV says the “Shore” crew’s Italian antics will premiere Thursday, Aug. 4.
Quoting the network’s press release: “America’s favorite roommates head overseas to learn all about the culture they love and live by in the birthplace where it all began. As they navigate a new country, they will bring their trademark hilarity, fist-pumping and family dysfunction to ‘the beautiful country.'” In other words, culture clash galore as Snooki tries to figure out why native Italians don’t understand what “smush” means.
The cast is scheduled to return to the United States by June 20 — and apparently they’ll head right into filming yet another season of the show. MTV says Season 5 will begin production later this month in Seaside Heights, N.J.
Before Season 4 begins, MTV will air a one-hour special on July 28 that chronicles the show’s history and pop-culture influence — and presumably contains a healthy dose of self-congratulation.
