jim gray gi Jim Gray pulled from Golf Channel after Dustin Johnson caddie altercationWe didn’t think there was a whole lot of room for confrontations in the world of Golf reporting, but we were mistaken.

The Golf Channel has pulled reporter Jim Gray from this weekend’s broadcast of the Northern Trust Open after his involvement in a scuffle with Dustin Johnson‘s caddie.

The war of words went down after the first round of the open on Thurs. (Feb. 17), when the caddie, Bobby Brown, went after Gray for discussing a rules incident with the golfer on the course.

No, he’s not that Bobby Brown. But how hilarious would it be if he was?

ESPN reports that Johnson could have been disqualified, but was given a two-stroke penalty for being late to his first-round tee-time. Brown did not take kindly to Gray when he brought up the situation later in the round.

“Our aim is to provide the best possible golf coverage for our viewers,” a rep for the Golf Channel said. “Anything else is a disservice. In order to not provide further distraction, we’ve decided to remove Jim from this particular assignment.”

This isn’t a new concept to Gray, as he was previously pulled in August 2010 after getting involved in a heated argument with U.S. Ryder Cup team captain Corey Pavin.

Not a golf fan? You may recognize Gray from his interview with LeBron James during the hyped up ESPN special in which James announced he would be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat.
