michelle bachmann nbc Jimmy Fallon, Questlove apologize for Michele Bachmann musical 'intro mess'[Update: Bachmann has since commented on the matter. They are posted at the bottom of the article.]

Let the apology tour begin.

Less than 24 hours after Jimmy Fallon’sLate Night” house band The Roots played “Lyin’ A** B****” as intro music for Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, everyone on the show is saying “I’m sorry.”

Fallon went on Twitter to express his regret over the song choice writing, “I’m honored that Michele Bachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back.” Fallon added that the band leader Questlove “is grounded.”

Questlove echoed the chorus. In a statement released Tuesday (Nov. 22) he says, “I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention.”

But it should have come as no surprise to anyone that something curious was afoot. Questlove tipped his hand when he Tweeted on Monday (Nov. 21), “Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title.”

The apologies haven’t placated some, including Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY).

“I do not share Michele Bachmann’s politics, but she deserves to be treated with respect,” Lowley says in a statement. “No female politician – and no woman – should be subjected to sexist and offensive innuendo like she was last night.”

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck took his discontent one step further.

“You treat her like that? You want to use her for ratings? You’re a despicable human being,” Beck says on his radio show. “Fire them, Jimmy.”

Bachmann has not yet commented publicly on the matter.

Update:  Bachmann tells Fox News, “This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood
entertainment elite. This wouldn’t be
tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a
conservative woman either.”
