Comedian and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has been tapped to host the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on ABC, the network announced Monday (March 26). It will be Kimmel’s first time hosting, but he will be backed up by director/producer Don Mischer as the executive producer of the awards for a record 12th time.
“We are thrilled to have been asked to produce the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards,” says Mischer. :We love television and look forward to working with the Television Academy and ABC in creating a show that is fast-paced, humorous, unpredictable and at times irreverent, but clearly celebratory of our incredible industry.”
Kimmel will get a chance to warm-up his hosting duty muscles when he takes the stage at the White House Correspondents Dinner in April. He also has previously hosted the American Music Awards and the ESPYs.
The 2012 Emmy Awards will air live Sunday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. We hope Jimmy Kimmel invites Fallon to join him for a wrestling re-match.
