jimmy kimmel white house china sketch abc Jimmy Kimmel's 'kill everyone in China' sketch to receive White House responseJimmy Kimmel and ABC have already apologized several times for the October “Kid’s Table” sketch that included a child suggesting we “kill everyone in China” as a way to alleviate our national debt, but the protests continue.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” segment prompted an official petition at WhiteHouse.gov, which has received the required 100,000 signatures needed to prompt an official response from the Obama Administration.

The petition, created by “H.Z” from Cedar Park, Texas on Oct. 19, reads, “The kids might not know anything better. However, Jimmy Kimmel and ABC’s management are adults. They had a choice not to air this racist program, which promotes racial hatred.” It goes on to make several demands, many of which have already been met.

“The program is totally unacceptable and it must be cut,” the petition states. “A sincere apology must be issued. It is extremely distasteful and this is the same rhetoric used in Nazi Germany against Jewish people. Please immediately cut the show and issue a formal apology.”

While it’s unclear whether to call to “cut” the show is a demand to have it canceled or just have the offending sketch removed, it should be noted that, as of Oct. 29, ABC has removed the sketch from “all public platforms available to us” and has edited it out of any future airings of the episode. The network and Kimmel have both offered sincere apologies.

It’s not exactly clear what else the White House can do on the matter, but, as the petition has a total of 101,728 signatures as of Nov. 7, a statement will be forthcoming.

Do you think the reaction to Kimmel’s sketch is warranted, or has it grown out of hand?
