rowling gi J.K. Rowling, 'Harry Potter' creator, lands adult book dealAfter a five year break following the end of her epic “Harry Potter” series of books, British author J.K. Rowling is ready to jump back in the game. Though the game will be slightly different since the author’s upcoming book is aimed at adults.

On Thursday (Feb. 23), the Little Brown Company announced that it has acquired rights to Rowling’s next work, reports the New York Times. Although we don’t know the title or even subject, Rowling did specify that the book will be for grown-ups.

“Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series,” says Rowling in a statement.

Since many of Rowling’s original readers are now either approaching or at adulthood, she could still benefit from her built-in audience. Her first Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was published in 1998 and, as the series grew it was adapted into a super-successful film franchise that launched the careers of both Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The final book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” sold nearly 11 million copies worldwide.

A publication date for the new book has not been announced.
