Josh Powell is currently under investigation in the high-profile disappearance of his wife, Susan, but the investigation may be futile at this point, as an explosion at Powell’s home has killed an adult and two children. Investigators believe the bodies are those of Powell and his two young sons, 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden.
A social worker brought the boys to Powell’s home for a supervised visit. The boys entered the home, but Powell refused to let the social worker enter. The social worker walked away from the house and reported to her supervisors that she could smell gas. The house then exploded, moments later.
Graham Fire and Rescue spokesman Gary Franz tells the LA Times that the house is being considered a crime scene.
Powell, under investigation for his wife’s disappearance since 2009, had lost custody of his sons when sexually explicit photos of women and girls were found on a computer belonging to his father, who he lived with.
Powell had been asked to take a sexual deviancy test by the courts in order for them to make a decision about his childrens’ custody.
