julie chen late late show big brother Julie Chen: 'Big Brother' has 'become very ugly,' uncomfortable to watch“Big Brother” host Julie Chen stopped by “The Late, Late Show” Monday night (July 15), where she and host Craig Ferguson talked about the controversy surrounding the BB contestants.

“It’s always crazy in the ‘Big Brother’ house. This year, it is more tension-filled and more, like, good guys versus perceived bad guys than ever before,” says Chen.

“There’s always like, ‘OK, we’re the cool kids and we’re the not-so-popular, but we’re stickin’ together,’ but this year, race has become an issue and it has become very ugly. It was uncomfortable for me to watch last night,” she continues, of Sunday’s episode where Candice was targeted with racial taunts from GinaMarie and Aaryn.

She and Ferguson also acknowledge that this is the hot-button issue right now, first with Paula Deen, then the Trayvon Martin verdict, which is why Craig Ferguson didn’t say, “It’s a great day for America” at the top of the show — because he doesn’t feel like it is a great day for America.

But turning back to “Big Brother,” Ferguson asks her who is going to win and Chen says it’s good for her that the show is done live.

“‘Big Brother’ happens live, so the great thing is — I’m terrible at keeping secrets — I don’t have to worry about revealing who wins,” laughs Chen.
