justin bieber space video virgin galactic gi Justin Bieber wants to go to space and shoot a video

Could Justin Bieber be the first major pop artist to shoot a music video from outer space? If the singer gets his way, that could be what happens when he flies out of the atmosphere with Richard Branson‘s Virgin Galactic.

News of Bieber’s astronomical intentions came out on Wednesday (June 5), when Branson tweeted that both the singer and Scooter Braun would be joining the Galactic trip to space. Bieber did not directly confirm the announcement himself, but he did retweet the original message to his 40 million followers.

But Justin had more to say about his plans to leave this Earth. A short time after Branson’s original tweet, Bieber responded with a plan of his own: a music video.

“@richardbranson @scooterbraun @virgingalactic let’s shoot a music video in SPACE!! #nextLEVEL”

Surprisingly, this is not the first time that Justin Bieber has indicated a desire to take his act into space. Back in February, he tweeted about dreaming of a concert held in space. NASA’s rather active Twitter feed picked up on this quickly and made an offer:

“Maybe we can help you with that. ‘All Around the World,’ next off it?  RT @justinbieber: I wanna do a concert in space”

Alas for the space agency, it looks that Branson has beaten them to it.

Even if Justin Bieber gets his wish and does get to shoot a music video in outer space, he won’t be the first to do so. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield claimed that honor in May.

Not all of the world’s Beliebers want to share Justin with the cosmos. As everyone knows, space travel is notoriously dangerous, and Branson’s venture is the first to try it as a tourist venture. As one of Bieber’s followers put it so eloquently:

That may be the chance Justin Bieber has to take if he really wants to get to that next level.
