ex american idol kara dioguardi molestation rape book getty Kara DioGuardi: Childhood molestation, rape, and her failed attempts at having a baby

With “American Idol” behind her and Bravo’s songwriting competition, “Platinum Hit,” premiering on May 30, Kara DioGuardi has a lot to look forward to. But, the songwriter and businesswoman will be releasing a memoir on April 26 in which she looks back on some very difficult times.
According to E!Online’s Marc Malkin, DioGuardi’s book, “A Helluva High Note,” includes admissions that she was a victim of childhood molestation, date rape, and describes her difficult final season on “Idol.”
In the book, DioGuardi describes being molested by the teenage son of family friends when she was only 11 years old.
“On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina,” she writes in her book. “I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”
In the book, she also talks about her career taking off in 2000 and describes going on a date with a “fairly known producer” who she thought asked her out on a friendly dinner only to force himself on her later that night.
“[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand,” she describes. While she yelled at him to get off, she says she didn’t fight or tell anyone, because she was afraid he’d ruin her career.

DioGuardi’s book also goes on to describe how she was sexually harassed by a successful artist she was writing for and even talks about her failed attempts at having a baby during her final season on “Idol,” and finding out that her job as a judge was in trouble via Internet reports.
“I wanted a child and there was no way I could get pregnant under the stress of eighteen-hour work days and live TV,” she writes about why she asked the “Idol” producers to let her out of her contract after having gone through 3 failed rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) during Season 9.
