private practice kate walsh returns to greys anatomy abc 320 Kate Walsh leaving 'Private Practice' after Season 6Kate Walsh is coming back to “Private Practice” for Season 6, but don’t expect the woman who plays Dr. Addison Montgomery to stick around any longer than the 13 episodes she’s contractually obligated to film — Walsh is reportedly ready to move on after playing the character for more than 7 years, first on “Grey’s Anatomy” and then on her spinoff.

According to Deadline, Walsh is ready to move on after she completes the season’s 13-episode order (and fulfills her contract). There’s no word on whether the show will continue after she leaves, but current speculation has the uber-busy Shonda Rhimes, who is now creator and showrunner of three ABC dramas (“Grey’s,” “Private Practice” and “Scandal”), closing up shop on “PP” at the end of Season 6. Still, that’s just speculation.

Walsh isn’t the only cast member leaving the show — Tim Daly recently announced that he will not be back for Season 6. He found out his character was being written out via his management, who said Rhimes decided that his character, Pete, would not be needed for Season 6.

“Private Practice” is back on ABC’s fall schedule in the Tuesdays at 10 p.m. time slot.
