katherine webb aj mccarron newscom 450 Katherine Webb: A.J. McCarron's girlfriend and Brent Musburger's crush is having 'kind of crazy' timeKatherine Webb knows what a difference three weeks can make.

The model and current Miss Alabama USA has been enmeshed in a whirlwind of attention and opportunity since ESPN sportscaster Brent Musburger made very audible notice of her attractive appearance at last month’s BCS National Championship Game, in which her boyfriend — University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron — was playing.

Since then, Webb was hired to cover Super Bowl XLVII for the syndicated program “Inside Edition”; she was a guest at last weekend’s NFL Honors, where she muses she was given “better seats than some of the players”; her Twitter following has skyrocketed from approximately 2,000 to 272,000; and she’s been enlisted as one of the novice celebrity divers in the ABC competition series “Splash,” premiering Tuesday, March 19.

“I think they’re just real proud of the fact that they have another representative who’s in a good light,” the friendly Webb tells Zap2it of her pageant’s chiefs, “showing how great an organization I’m a part of. Miss USA and Miss Universe are run by Donald Trump and Paula Shugart, and they’re so proud of everything else that’s happened. They’ve been there with me every step of the way, and I couldn’t be more appreciative.”

McCarron has been there, too, and Webb says the two of them are “absolutely” dealing with their suddenly intensified public profile realistically. “It’s kind of crazy, because we’d been dating two months, then our relationship was shoved into the spotlight.

“Compared to what you see other celebrities go through, I think we’ve been handling it pretty well. It’s all about staying grounded, remembering who you are and where you come from, and what means the most to you.”

Webb adds, “I would drop all of this for him and for my family, because at the end of the day, that is what’s most important. He’s so supportive, and I’m supportive of him. I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

That said, Webb reports she enjoyed her Super Bowl weekend to the hilt: “It was my first one, and my first time being in New Orleans, too. I was able to share my personal experiences, which was really cool, and also to give an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes.

“I did interviews with cheerleaders on both sides and with Matchbox Twenty, and I got to meet [retiring Baltimore Ravens linebacker] Ray Lewis and Emeril Lagasse. The list just goes on.”

Though she states “I’m a huge football fan, obviously,” Webb notes her favorite part of the Super Bowl “was watching Beyonce perform. As far as making [journalism] into a career goes, I would have to think a little more about it. You never know what will happen. We’ll see.”
