keith olbermann msnbc Keith Olbermann possibly getting $10 million for Current TV 'Countdown'Nearly 5 months after suddenly signing off at MSNBC, “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” returns, to Current TV, on June 20.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s current cover story finds the cable newsman opening up about the backstage drama of his MSNBC departure on the eve of his new venture, but it’s his reported salary that seems most intriguing.

Though the independent cable network won’t disclose contract details, THR reports Olbermann’s new gig will bring him in $10 million a year — that’s a 40 percent raise from his $7 million contract with the significantly larger MSNBC.

Olbermann’s five year contract also makes him the network’s chief news officer, giving him an equity stake in the company. THR posits this could give him as much as $100 million over the course of his planned tenure at Current  — and that doesn’t even include the extra year-and-a-half payout from his unfulfilled MSNBC contract.
