Kerry Kennedy, the 52-year-old daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, was arrested Friday (July 13) after a hit-and-run car accident. She was found sitting in her 2008 Lexus after 911 calls reported an erratic driver on Interstate 684 in Westchester County, New York, reports the AP.
Kennedy’s car hit a tractor-trailer and then continued on to the next exit. She was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. A spokesman for the Kennedy family denies any wrongdoing and says that blood, urine and Breathalyzer tests all cleared Kerry of the accident.
“Kerry Kennedy voluntarily took breathalyzer, blood and urine tests —
all of which showed no drugs or alcohol whatsoever in her system. The charges were filed before the test results were
available,” says spokesman Ken Sunshine.
But a source tells the New York Daily News that it will take a week to determine what the blood tests found.
