Kevin Clash resigned from “Sesame Street” as the voice of Elmo in late November after a second accuser came forward with allegations of underage sex. A week later a third accuser surfaced, and now a fourth has come forward.
Per USA Today, the man, only identified as John Doe, claims he and Clash met in Miami Beach in late 1995 or early 1996 when the accuser was 16 or 17. Clash would have been in his mid-30s at the time.
The two allegedly talked by phone afterward, and Clash eventually “lured the boy to visit him in New York, with promises to pay for his plane ticket, be a ‘dad’ to him in New York and give him cash and a free place to stay,” according to the filing released by the accuser’s attorney, Jeff Herman, who also represents two of the three previous accusers.
The offer reportedly appealed to the accuser, “who was contemplating running away from home,” according to the suit. Doe alleges the pair had sex multiple times.
“These are all vulnerable boys,” Herman says at a press conference. “None of them had father figures in their lives and they were looking for that father figure.”
Clash’s attorney, Michael Berger, says in a statement, “The lawsuit is without merit and we will vigorously defend the case and Mr. Clash’s reputation.”
