It has been almost two years since the last season of “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane.”
Much has happened for the fab Kimora Lee Simmons since Season 2 when she took the reins of Phat Fashions, which includes her labels, Baby Phat and KLS.
During the hiatus, Lee Simmons married actor and model Djimon Hounsou and she became pregnant.
“I feel like my family has grown into a very good space,” Lee Simmons tells Zap2it. “I’m just very, very happy. I’m very peaceful. I feel like my husband is such a great force in my life. He really helps me to feel grounded.”
In the premiere episode, Lee Simmons’ two daughters from her marriage with mogul Russell Simmons seemed mixed on their new brother. Ming Lee, now 10, was mommy’s little helper while seven-year-old Ayoki Lee had to warm up to the responsibilities of being an older sister.
Lee Simmons decided to film her new son Kenzo’s birth for the show. While it wasn’t graphic, it definitely showed her in some painful moments. We asked her why she would let the cameras capture that.
“I had no choice, probably because I had a contract and I needed to go to work,” says Lee Simmons. “I have a close relationship with my fans, my viewers. So, I feel like it’s OK to see me pregnant. I show women that if I get pregnant, it’s just another part of my life. It’s not like I have to go hide. My life goes on.”
The other big pain of the series so far was the ordeal of relocating the family to their newly built West Coast home, which was finally completed in the last episode.
“It was such a headache to do,” the former model tells us. “I think I did it, because I was in love. Like they say, ‘the house that love built.’ I will never do that again.”
