Who knew that basketball fans and Kim Kardashian fans were one and the same?
Kris Humphries made his big debut at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, playing his first game with the Nets since signing a reported $8 million contract. As soon as Humphries hit the court to play against the Knicks, the crowd went wild. And not in a good way.
“That was not a smattering of boos,” said Madison Square Garden announcer Al Trautwig. “That’s ‘villain in the Garden’ kind of booing.” Another announcer called Humphries “the most hated man in the NBA.”
And in case you were thinking that the booing was not Kardashian-related, fans in the stands later taunted Humphries by chanting, “Reggie Bush! Reggie Bush!” according to Us. Bush, of course, is Kardashian’s former boyfriend — an NFL player.
After the game, Humphries told reporters he didn’t even notice the yelling. “I felt like Rudy out there…I was so focused on the game, I couldn’t hear that,” he said, surely stinging from the loss to the Knicks.
