gaga vogue Lady Gaga takes the cover of Vogue's Power Issue

What better way to ramp up buzz for your single that you’ve been talking, tweeting, promoting for ages than to take the cover of Vogue’s annual Power Issue?

A pink wig-wearing, white eyebrow-having Lady Gaga did just that for her new single “Born This Way,” hitting the radio Friday, Feb. 11, which she talked about with the magazine. “I wrote it in ten f-cking minutes, and it is a completely magical message song,” she says. “After I wrote it, the gates just opened, and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception.” You heard it from her first, “Born This Way” is the new baby Jesus.

Gaga also discussed how she relates to her fans. “I see myself in them. I was this really bad, rebellious misfit of a person — I still am — sneaking out, going to clubs, drugs, alcohol, older men, younger men,” she explains. “I look at them, and every show there’s a little more eyeliner, a little more freedom. For some reason the fans didn’t become more Top 40. They become even more of this cult following. It’s very strange and exciting.”

The pop star talked about her responsibility to give her fans what she calls “nothing less than the greatest album of the decade.””I don’t want to give them something trendy,” she states. “I want to give them the future.”
