lady gaga indonesia protests gi Lady Gaga won't tone down Indonesian show despite protestsLady Gaga’s upcoming concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, has drawn protests and violent threats from Islamic groups who believe her show promotes promiscuity and homosexuality, but Gaga’s manager, Troy Carter, says the “Born This Way” singer has no plans to tone things down for the June 3 performance.

“We play the show as it is, it’s a very specific show to a very specific audience,” Carter says, according to Singapore’s Straits Times. “Truth be told, she’s not up there nude, she’s not doing anything provocative for the sake of being provocative.”

Gaga addressed the situation herself on Twitter Monday (May 21), posting, “The Jakarta situation is 2-fold: Indonesian authorities demand I censor the show & religious extremist separately, are threatening violence. … If the show goes on as scheduled, I will perform the [‘Born This Way’ Ball] alone.”

Carter says that he’s still in negotiations with the Indonesian police in an attempt to get a permit for the show, but right now he doesn’t know if the show will go on as planned.
