lady gaga thailand gi Lady Gaga's 'fake Rolex' Tweet angers fans in ThailandIt began innocuously enough. Lady Gaga, headed to Bangkok for a stop on her “Born This Way” world tour, tweeted “I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex.”

That didn’t go over too well with many of Gaga’s Thai fans who, reports the Nation, labeled the remark offensive and insulting.

“We are more civilized than you think,” tweeted DJ Suharit Siamwalla, who had a ticket to the Wednesday (March 23) evening show, but planned to boycott it after Gaga’s comment.

Added another Twitter critic, who kind of has a point, “If Gaga supports fake Rolex in Thailand, I bet she also supports the illegal copies of her album. Such an ignorant comment!”

Still, Gaga was welcomed at the Bangkok airport by thousands of fans. The Nation also reports that since the show is one of the biggest ever put on in the city, “props and gear have been hauled in by three 747 aircraft and by sea in 23 shipping containers. One piece of equipment was so large that a gate at the stadium had to be removed to fit it in.”

The performer heads to Singapore next. In Indonesia, Gaga was refused a concert permit after threats of violence from militant groups, reports AFP. Religious hardliners in South Korea and the Philippines have also accused her of espousing blasphemy and devil worship.
