Lady Gaga Telephone 4 Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' debuts, she explains the 'hidden message' ... kind ofLady Gaga’s much buzzed-about “Telephone” video debuted Thursday (Mar. 11) night.

It was jam-packed with everything Gaga-esque from flashy outfits and multiple costume changes to risque content, including Gaga getting stripped down to nothing in prison followed by a brief girl-on-girl make out session. But the Lady herself says there’s much more to it.

]]>tells E! News. “But I would say most predominately, I’m always trying to convolute everyone’s idea of what a pop music video should be.” Ok, so we get that she made it a non-standard nine-minutes long, but what exactly is she talking about? Luckily, she clarified — kind of. “There was this really amazing quality in ‘Paparazzi,’ where it kind of had this pure pop music quality but at the same time it was a commentary on fame culture. In its own way, even at certain points working with Jonas [Akerlund, the director of both videos] really achieved this high art quality in the way that it was shot. I wanted to do the same thing with this video–take a decidedly pop song, which on the surface has a quite shallow meaning, and turn it into something deeper.” Whatever you say, Gaga. Beyoncé held her own as co-star in the video, and Gaga had an explanation for why the two (who also collaborated for Beyoncé’s single “Video Phone”) have such good work chemistry. The reigning pop princess told MTV, “We had an amazing time working together on her video, and it just kind of works out because we both like women.” Not exactly sure what she means by that comment, but we’re intrigued. And if you’re a Quentin Tarantino fan, you might have noticed the director’s influence on the video, including the Pussy Wagon from “Kill Bill.” According to Gaga, Tarantino loaned it to her over lunch in Los Angeles one day. “I was telling him about my concept for the video and he loved it so much he said, ‘You gotta use the Pussy Wagon.'” Do you think “Telephone” lives up to all the hype?
