Less than a year after being the first hit female country singer to publicly come out of the closet, country singer Chely Wright has found love! The star, who recently performed at Dinah Shore, is planning her wedding to gay rights activist Lauren Blitzer.
Blitzer is the development director of Faith in America, and the couple met doing advocacy work.
“It’s been a really exciting time,” Wright tells E!. “We fit so
well. And the best part is that our families go so beautifully
together.” She’ll marry Blitzer in August on Blitzer’s aunt’s estate in front of 200 guests.
The women are designing their gowns with Jose Diaz and both intend to wear white. Wright shares that when the time comes, they hope to have children.
“We want a family,” she says. “The benefit of being out is I get to have everything that everyone else has. I do want a family and I do want traditional things. I just had no idea it would happen so quickly. I feel like it was a blessing from God.”
