lee daniels michael cera ten commandments gi Lee Daniels, Michael Cera to direct 'Ten Commandments' event series

Just what the world has been waiting for: A modern take on “The Ten Commandments.” It was announced at the TCA winter press tour that The Weinstein Company is producing a 10-part miniseries, one per commandment, for WGN. Each installment will allow the director to give a modern interpretation of their particular commandment.
Lee Daniels (“Lee Daniels’ The Butler”), Gus Van Sant (“Good Will Hunting”), Wes Craven (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Jim Sheridan (“In The Name of the Father”) and actor Michael Cera (“Superbad”) are all on board to helm and installment, with five more directors to be named later. The miniseries will be produced by Bob Weinstein and Bruce Cohen.
“Each of these directors is acclaimed for their own unique brand of style and genre, so it’s clear that we can expect ten wildly different episodes from this series,” Weinstein says in a statement.
This will be Cera’s first time directing something other than a short film. The event series will take place over ten nights.
