Sean Bean is returning to TV in TNT’s action drama “Legends,” which the network has officially picked up for a 10 episode season to premiere in summer 2014.

Executive produced by “Homeland’s” Howard Gordon, “Legends”
follows the adventures of Martin Odum (Bean), an undercover agent in the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations (DCO) division with
an unparalleled ability to completely transform his identity for every
new job.

The cast also includes Ali Larter (“Heroes”) as Crystal Quest, a fellow operative who has a history with Martin; Rob Mayes (“The Client List”) as Troy Quinn, a former Special Ops agent with a single-minded mission-first mentality; Tina Majorino (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Maggie Harris, the newest member of the DCO team; Steve Harris (“Awake”) as Nelson Gates, the director of the DCO Task Force; Amber Valletta (“Revenge”) as Sonya Odum, Martin’s ex-wife; and Lux Haney Jardine as Martin’s pre-teen son, Aiden.

“‘Legends’ has everything you want in a good spy drama: intriguing characters, multi-layered plots, a terrific cast and lots of action and suspense,” TNT president and head of programming Michael Wright said in a statement.

Just yesterday TNT picked up Michael Bay’s apocalyptic drama “The Last Ship” starring Eric Dane. The network also recently boosted its Season 2 orders for dramas “Major Crimes” and “Perception” and renewed the “Dallas” revival for Season 3.

There’s still no official word on the future of “Southland,” but this flurry of action doesn’t seem like good news for the critically adored but low-rated cop drama.
