When “Girls” ends its run on HBO, it may be the last time we see creator and star Lena Dunham in front of the camera.
Dunham, who just hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the first time on March 8, tells Glamour that she’s not certain acting is a part of her long-term plan. “I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore,” she says in the pages of the magazine’s April issue, of which she also graces the cover. “I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”
For fans of the actress, rest assured that there’s still plenty of time left in Dunham’s career, with a Season 4 of her hit HBO comedy already in the works — which won’t likely be it’s last, if the cable network has anything to say about it.
In the interview, Dunham also opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Jack Antonoff, who she began dating just as “Girls” hit the hair. “The dialogue around the show already existed, so it was sort of clear to him what the baggage of dating me was going to be,” she explains. “I remember talking with him on our first date and him being like, ‘God all the articles about your nudity on the show are such bulls***.’ It’s funny, ’cause in some ways that’s the conversation we still have when I’m upset [about stuff I read].”
