lena dunham book deal Lena Dunham signs book deal worth more than $3.5 millionLena Dunham will soon be able to add “published author” to her resume, along with “creator and star of ‘Girls’” and “multiple Emmy nominee.”

Dunham signed a book deal over the weekend with Random House that’s worth upwards of $3.5 million, The New York Times reports. Random House won the publishing rights to her nonfiction work “Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned.”

The book is a collection of essays — shades of her character on “Girls,” only much more successful — on subjects ranging from work to sex to travel. It became the object of a bidding battle among publishers after her book proposal (with “color [and] illustrations,” the Times says) made the rounds.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lena to Random House,” the publisher says in a statement. “Her skill on the page as a writer is remarkable–fresh, wise, so assured. She is that rare literary talent that will only grow from strength to strength and we look forward to helping her build a long career as an author.”

There’s no word on when “Not That Kind of Girl” will be published. Season 2 of “Girls” is scheduled to premiere early next year on HBO.
