It took less than 12 hours for LeVar Burton’s “Reading Rainbow” Kickstarter campaign to reach it’s $1 million goal. Now the show will return with a web-enabled version to watch at home, as well as one for classrooms.
Burton had a video camera on hand as the $1 million line was crossed, capturing the emotional celebration. With tears in his eyes, Burton thanks the backers for their support. “This is going to enable us to really, really, really do a lot of good,” he says. “I am so proud that this community has come together to support this effort.”
With 34 days to go, the Kickstarter has surpassed $1.8 million dollars. “We are literally changing the world once children’s book at a time,” Burton says.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
