Who better to play the late glamorous Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor than erstwhile party girl/actress/singer/jailbird Lindsay Lohan. Wait — what?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lohan is in “early talks” to play Taylor in the Lifetime movie “Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story,” which would focus on Taylor’s tumultuous relationship with two-time husband Richard Burton.
Before we scoff at Lohan’s latest comeback attempt, remember that like Lohan, Taylor too began her career at a young age and grew up in the spotlight. And although she never ended up in the pokey, some would argue that Taylor made plenty of missteps along her road to icon status.
Lohan recently posed for a Marilyn Monroe-inspired Playboy spread which allegedly racked up record sales for the magazine. Her last role was in the camp movie “Machete.”
Taylor passed away in March at age 79.
