lost premiere 320 'Lost' fans just say no to leaked premiereWhen ABC screened the first half of the “Lost” season premiere to thousands of fans over the weekend, it was inevitable that a few people would record the screening and post it online.

What hasn’t been typical, though, has been the reaction. Instead of flocking to it in search of spoilers, fans have been resolutely not watching the show online ahead of its Tuesday (Feb. 2) premiere.

Anecdotally, at least, there’s strong evidence that fans are all the way on board with “Lost” executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof and ABC, which until last weekend had kept footage from the new season almost completely under wraps. When footage did leak over the weekend, it did not cause a massive rush to video-sharing sites.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the more prevalent attitude was summed up by a poster online: “Why spoil it now? I’d rather watch it in hi-def and surround sound than ruin the surprise and watch some (low-quality) video.”

To which we say: Bravo. The TV audience was already starting to fragment when “Lost” premiered in 2004, and it’s only splintered more in the time since then. But it’s sort of heartening to know that fans of a show are still looking forward to parking themselves in front of their sets Tuesday night and watching as a large group. (It’ll also be interesting to see how that affects the ratings. My guess is that the premiere will be up maybe 5 percent to 10 percent from the 11.35 million who watched last year’s debut.)

What are your thoughts on watching the season premiere? Are you seeking it out or waiting till Tuesday night?
