terry oquinn2 lost s6 320 'Lost' premiere gets a big DVR bumpThe season premiere of “Lost” got a sizable ratings boost from DVR use, improving by better than 2 million viewers and more than a full point in adults 18-49.

The live-plus-7 boost isn’t that big a surprise — “Lost” routinely added a sizable chunk of viewers during its fifth season. But the gains in both viewers (from 12.13 million to 14.33 million) and the 18-49 demo (5.6 to 6.7) are the biggest ever for the show’s season premiere in both raw numbers and percentage gain (also no surprise, since DVR use is growing year by year).

The additional 18-49 audience also makes “Lost” the No. 1 scripted show in the demographic for the week of Feb. 1-7 (it still trails the post-Super Bowl premiere of “Undercover Boss” and the two “American Idol” telecasts” that week).

Other DVR highlights from the first week of February:

– “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Mentalist” finished in a near-tie for the most-DVR’ed show of the week. “Grey’s” added 2,758,000 viewers and “The Mentalist” 2,757,000. The two Thursday-night shows are also the season’s leaders in viewers added, with “The Mentalist” (2.93 million) holding a small edge over “Grey’s” (2.91 million).

– On the demographic side for the week, “Grey’s Anatomy” added 1.4 ratings points (4.5 to 5.9), followed by “The Office” (3.8 to 5.1) and “House” (4.8 to 6.0). The Feb. 3 “American Idol” and “Modern Family,” like “Lost,” each added 1.1 points.

– For the season, “Idol” is adding an average of 2.2 million viewers to its Tuesday broadcast and 2.5 million to the Wednesday show — gains of 8 percent and 10 percent over their same-day ratings.

– NBC’s “Chuck” is averaging a bump of 1.17 million viewers (6.94 million to 8.11 million) and a half a point (2.5 to 3.0) in adults 18-49. Both represent gains of just under 17 percent over the same-day ratings.

– The now-canceled “Dollhouse” remains the season’s biggest percentage gainer, adding nearly 36 percent to its same-day audience. That bump (2.17 million viewers to 2.95 million), however, still wasn’t enough to break the 3 million mark or for FOX to keep the show around.
