daniel dae kim lost s6 320 2 'Lost's' Daniel Dae Kim books 'Hawaii Five O'Daniel Dae Kim has potentially figured out how to stay in Hawaii and keep his acting career going after “Lost” ends.

Kim has taken one of the lead roles in CBS’ remake/update of “Hawaii Five-O.” Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, a member of the Five-O squad who was played by Kam Fong in the 1968-80 original, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The starring role of Steve McGarrett hasn’t been cast yet, but the HR says “Three Rivers” star Alex O’Loughlin is in talks to take the role.

Kim is the first member of “Lost’s” regular cast to sign on to a pilot for next season. Like the ABC series, “Hawaii Five-O” will film on Oahu, easing some logistical headaches for Kim and the two productions if he has to shuttle back and forth.

The “Hawaii Five-O” remake is being executive produced by Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman — who’ve worked with “Lost” co-creator J.J. Abrams on “Fringe” and “Star Trek” — and “CSI: NY’s” Peter Lenkov.

And by the way, kudos to Kim on figuring out how to keep the Hawaii run going. Well played.
