FX has at long last set a premiere date for Season 4 of “Louie.” The Emmy-nominated comedy from Louis C.K. will premiere on May 5.
After Season 3 ended, C.K. asked FX for some extra time between seasons to recharge his creative batteries — he writes, directs and edits every episode in addition to starring — while targeting a spring 2014 return date. It seems to have worked, because while FX ordered 13 episodes for the season, he delivered 14.
“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because — even though Louie was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America — he needed to make it even better,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf says. “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”
The premiere of Season 4 will come 19 months after the end of Season 3 (and will also make it under the wire to be eligible for this year’s Emmys). FX plans to air back-to-back episodes Mondays at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT for seven weeks.
