Can you hear that? It’s the sound of thousands of American women trying to expatriate to Eastern Europe.
“Dancing With the Stars” professional and perennial bridesmaid Maksim Chmerkovskiy is set to star in the first edition of “The Bachelor” in his home country of Ukraine.
The 30-year-old dancer breaks the news on his website, inadvertently outing himself as a fan of emphatic CAPS lock. “First thing first,” he writes. “I AM doing the Ukrainian version of our Bachelor.
The fact that I’ve turned down the American version has NOTHING to do
with my ‘dislike’ of American women. (The statement is so absurd that I
can’t believe I’m even dignifying it with a reply).”
But he does — and, yes, he also says that he turned down the American version.
Despite frequent rumors of his romantic involvement with celebrity partners on “DWTS,” Chmerkovskiy’s only long term public relationship has been with fellow pro and Ukrainian Karina Smirnoff, who he was once engaged to.
No word on whether any exceptionally motivated American women will be permitted to apply for the series, but we can assume it will follow the same rules as its US version, with one notable exception…
In Ukraine, rose give you.
