mark wahlberg 324 Mark Wahlberg says he could've stopped 9/11 oooookay [Updated]

Today in celebrities forcibly shoving their feet into their own mouths comes Mark Wahlberg telling a reporter that he, like, totally could’ve stopped the 9/11 attacks had he been on board one of the planes headed toward the World Trade Center.

In what we’re hoping was a joking comment taken horribly out of context, Wahlberg says in an interview in the newest issue of Men’s Journal, “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have
went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that
first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere
safely, don’t worry.'”

Yeesh, when will celebs learn to keep their darn mouths shut?!

Apparently, Wahlberg lives his life like he’s constantly starring in an action thriller (which, to be fair, at the rate he cranks them out, odds are he probably is starring in an action thriller for a good portion of every calendar year).
Other topics Wahlberg discusses in the wide-ranging interview: crying his eyes out at “The Help,” and getting stressed out at the thought of his oldest daughter going on her first date.
The February issue of Men’s Journal is on newsstands now.

Update, 2:07 p.m.: Wahlberg has apologized for his comments, which reportedly offended many victims’ families — especially those of Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers revolted against the terrorists. He tells TMZ, “To suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible. To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with. I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention.”
