While Charlie Sheen is kicking up as much dirt as he can in the aftermath of his firing from CBS’ “Two and a half Men,” his father, Martin Sheen, is promoting his new film in Malta far, far away from his batty son, reports AOL.
“He is taking a break from everything in the U.S.,” said a source in Malta who asked to remain anonymous. “We’ve been told he does not want to answer any questions about Charlie right now.”
Sheen has been promoting his film, “The Way,” which benefits an organization that helps those seeking asylum. It’s about a father who traces his son’s footsteps in Spain where he died in order to understand him better. Too close to home, isn’t it?

On the “Today” show, Charlie took some potshots at his father and brother, Emilio Estevez, after he was asked about a recent interview in which they expressed their concern for him.
“They tried. But I said, you know, I’m not ready, I’m not interested in your rhetoric right now,” Charlie said. “I appreciate your love, your compassion, if that’s what you wanna call it. But I’m 45 years old, and I’m not interested in people treating me like a 12-year-old.”
At some point, we’re sure Martin will have to deal with Charlie. But it sounds like he’s happy to be somewhere out there in the middle of the Mediterranean right now.
We don’t blame him.
