doctor strange scott derrickson director gi Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' to be directed by Scott Derrickson“Doctor Strange” will be getting a bit scary as its director has been confirmed.

Variety initially reported that Scott Derrickson, best known for horror movies “Sinister” and “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” is in talks to helm the Phase 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Derrickson then took to Twitter to confirm the news himself.

Derrickson’s next movie to hit theaters is “Deliver Us From Evil,” out July 2. Kevin Feige previously said “Doctor Strange” is one of the Phase 3 movies, and assumedly this script is still coming from Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer.
“Doctor Strange” tells the story of a former neurosurgeon who loses the ability to use his hands and later turns to the mystic arts to become the “Sorcerer Supreme.” Based on Derrickson’s filmography, there’s a good chance that there could be a strong dose of horror in the film, though he also wouldn’t be the first to try something new as a Marvel director.
Thus far there’s no official release date for “Doctor Strange.” Meanwhile, “Ant-Man” is going through some director drama after the exit of Edgar Wright not long before the film was supposed to go into production. That movie bows on July 17, 2015.
