lea michele jonathan groff laughing McG wants Lea Michele for the 'Spring Awakening' movieLea Michele might not have landed a role in the “Les Miserables” movie currently shooting in London, but she could find herself starring in the big-screen version of another musical she acted in on Broadway.

McG, who is directing the movie version of “Spring Awakening,” tells E! Online that he’s going after Michele for the flick. The actress originated the role of innocent teen Wendla in the musical, which is based on an 1891 German play (also called “Spring Awakening”) and ran on Broadway from 2006 to 2009, winning eight Tony Awards. Much like on her “Glee” day job, the kids in the play deal with everything from sex to parental pressures (and even more serious stuff like suicide and rape).
“We’re talking to Lea Michele because she made the role of Wendla famous and we’ll see if that pans out and works with the timing of her schedule on [“Glee”],” McG says. “I love Lea; we’ve talked about it. When I first got turned onto the show she was in it so it’s her voice that echoes in my heart. I really think she’s wonderful and we’ll see where it takes us.”
We’re also huge fans of the show, and this excites us to no end. However, we can’t imagine Michele returning without Jonathan Groff, her BFF and “Glee” costar who originated the role of Melchior. And while we’re at it, we also want to see John Gallagher Jr., who won a Tony for his portrayal of Moritz. Now please excuse us while we listen to the Broadway soundtrack on repeat for the rest of the day.
