the beaver poster Mel Gibson's 'Beaver' shows up at the American Film MarketWhile it’s admirable that Whoopi Goldberg and Jodie Foster are standing by fallen star Mel Gibson on a personal level, it’s going to take more than a Foster-directed, Kyle Killen-written (“Lonestar”) movie about a depressed man who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand to win us back over to his side.

That said, we do have to admit that the poster for “The Beaver,” which ComingSoon snapped a pic of at the American Film Market, is rather charming.

Wisely, Gibson himself is largely obscured except for his trademark baby blues while a puppet beaver dominates the frame. With his other hand, Gibson offers up a note, reading: “Hello. This person is under the care of a prescription puppet. Please, treat him as you normally would, but address yourself to the puppet.”

Oh, and under no circumstances make direct eye contact with the crazy man.

Still, cute as The Beaver is, we’re pretty sure he doesn’t have a chance in a bar fight against Greg the Bunny. And you know it would come to that.
