TV veterans Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield are hoping their surprise engagement means the third time’s the charm. Both “Little House on the Prairie” star Gilbert and “thirtysomething” Emmy-winner Busfield have been married twice before.
Us Weekly reported the engagement news, citing an anonymous source and confirmation from Gilbert’s publicist. The engagement happened over the holidays and the source told Us: “They’ve known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years.”
Gilbert, 48, was previously married to Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner, while Busfield, 55, was hitched to Radha Delmarter and Jenny Meriwin.
Gilbert hasn’t been acting much lately but did compete in Season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which aired in early 2012. Busfield recently guest starred on “The Mob Doctor” and “Childrens Hospital” and maintains an active TV directing career including recent episodes of “Psych,” “The Client List” and “Franklin & Bash.”
