On Thursday (June 7), the veteran actress and “Terms of Endearment” Oscar winner becomes the seventh woman — and 40th entertainer overall — to receive the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award. The ceremony will be taped in Culver City, Calif., for a TV Land telecast on Sunday, June 24.

Among many other MacLaine movies certain to be referenced are “The Apartment,” “Irma la Douce,” “Sweet Charity,” “The Turning Point” and “Steel Magnolias.” While her exact table-mates still are uncertain due to work schedules, the delightfully candid MacLaine tells Zap2it they will be “all the wonderful women that I’ve worked with, and who have been part of my life. I wanted to do that. I wanted to celebrate the women.”

One person sure to be seated there is MacLaine’s “favorite in the world,” 2004 AFI honoree Meryl Streep, who played her daughter in “Postcards From the Edge” and will present the award.

MacLaine’s brother, Warren Beatty, received the Life Achievement Award in 2008. “I think his name will come up” during the evening, she muses, adding that receiving such a cumulative tribute is “where the pressure comes from. You know that it’s not for one thing or one part. It’s for life, at least in my case.

“I know they’re having trouble paring [the material] down to one night, because first of all, I’ve been living so long. And second of all, I have done a lot of stuff. This forces you to look at it again, and at what you could’ve-should’ve-would’ve done … if.”
