michael clarke duncan gi Michael Clarke Duncan dies at 54Michael Clarke Duncan, an Oscar nominee for “The Green Mile” and one of the most physically imposing actors of the past 20 years, has died.

Duncan, 54, died Monday (Sept. 3), not quite two months after suffering a heart attack in July. He had remained hospitalized ever since.

Duncan, who stood 6-foot-5 and weighed about 300 pounds, worked as a bodyguard for the likes of the Notorious B.I.G. and Will Smith before becoming an actor. He had a number of bit parts and TV guest roles before breaking out with Michael Bay’s disaster movie “Armageddon” in 1998 and earning an Oscar nod for “The Green Mile” the following year.

His other movie and TV credits include “Planet of the Apes,” “Daredevil,” “Talladega Nights” and FOX’s short-lived series “The Finder.” He also lent his deep bass voice to dozens of animated characters.

Duncan was engaged to reality-TV star Omarosa Manigault, best known for her role on “The Apprentice.” She helped revive him after he suffered his heart attack on July 13 and had remained with him during his time in the hospital.
