Insider trading brought down Gordon Gekko in the 1987 movie “Wall Street,” but now actor Michael Douglas, who brought the investor to life in the film and its sequel, is in cahoots with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He stars in a one-minute spot for the government agency’s initiative to raise awareness around illegal trading.
“The movie was fiction, but the problem is real,” Douglas says, following a clip from the Oliver Stone film.
According to the New York Times, the video is part of a “see something, say something” plea from the FBI to potential tipsters on Wall Street.
“If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is,” Douglas adds.
What do you think of the spot? Do you think it’s effective to have the message coming from Michael Douglas?
